Being front of queue after red flag was critical, says Ricciardo

Grand Prix of Europe – Daniel Ricciardo says that leading the queue of cars after the red flag at the end of Q3 was critical for his qualifying. The Australian had not had a clean lap before the red flag was waved for Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes after he hit the wall at Turn 11. But Red Bull made sure Ricciardo was at the end of the pit lane before anybody else when the session resumed. This meant he was able to put in a last gasp, but crucially clean, lap together to put himself 3rd.
