Magnussen rues ‘very strange' crash

Kevin Magnussen was unable to take part in Saturday's qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix after a 'weird' crash in final practice damaged his RS16. The Renault driver's car suffered heavy left side damage when he crashed coming out of the chicane at Turn 6/7. Magnussen, who was on an out-lap on a set of used ultrasoft Pirellis, believes cold tyres may have played a role in the accident. 'It was an out-lap. Very strange,' he told Motorsport.com. 'We put a set that I had run already and they hadn't been warmed up in the blankets. They didn't have time to get warm, and we just stuck them on and they were very slippery. 'It is weird because we had done it before and they had been alright....
