Jenson Button: “The team made some good calls”

Jenson Button secured a ninth place finish during the Monaco Grand Prix but admitted that without the rain, he would have been unlikely have finished inside the points. The McLaren-Honda driver was one of the first drivers to make the switch from the full wet tyre to the intermediate when the safety car left the circuit, and felt the team made strategy good calls throughout the race to enable the British driver to score points. “My car felt almost undriveable during the wet opening laps – we were struggling to get heat into the rear tyres, and were locking the rear wheels whenever we hit the brakes, which was a bit scary,” said Button. “I boxed for Inters at probably the right time...
