Rosberg had to let Hamilton past

Monaco Grand Prix – Mercedes instructed Nico Rosberg to let Lewis Hamilton through in the early stages of the Monte Carlo race, due to the German's lack of pace. Rosberg had started ahead of Lewis Hamilton for Monaco, lining up behind Daniel Ricciardo in P2 & P3 respectively. From there, Rosberg held P2 at the start but it quickly became clear that he was holding Hamilton up massively as Ricciardo stretched his lead to over ten seconds over the squabbling Mercs. Then, Rosberg appeared to slow out of Ste. Devote and this gave Hamilton the chance to get ahead.
