Grid penalty for Raikkonen

Kimi Raikkonen's bid for pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix suffered a setback immediately after the third and final practice session, when Ferrari needed to change the gearbox on his SF16-H. The Finn had struggled to match team-mate Sebastian Vettel's session-leading pace, and it was subsequently discovered that his gearbox had been damaged during the 60 minutes of morning practice. Raikkonen eventually finished ninth overall in FP3, a full second off his team-mate, having had his gearbox slip into neutral during the session.
