Confirmed: WMSC approves Pirelli's 25 test days
After threatening to walk away from the sport if the FIA refused to increase the number of test days for Pirelli to swap to wider tyres in 2017, the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has given the go-ahead. The FIA released a statement on Wednesday stating that Pirelli will be given 2013 or 2014 spec cars to run their tests and that the wider tyres will be implemented for at least the next two years. 'The World Motor Sport Council today approved changes to Articles 10.2 and 10.6 of the Formula One Sporting Regulations in order to provide the appointed tyre supplier additional opportunities to undertake testing in preparation for the 2017 season,' the FIA statement read.
