WMSC approves 25 car days for 2017 F1 tyres

The FIA's World Motor Council has formally approved the regulations changes to allow Pirelli to test 2017 F1 tyres. The F1 Commission had already agreed to the changes asked by Pirelli earlier this week, ahead of the deadline set for 4pm CET on Monday. On Wednesday, the WMSC ratified the changes, aimed at giving Pirelli additional dates to prepare its tyres for next season. The changes will allow 25 car days of testing with current F1 cars fitted with 2017 tyre sizes during 2016, 2017 and 2018. There will also be an opportunity to test prototype 2017 tyres in 2016 sizes on cars from 2013 and 2014, but only during this year.
