F1 agrees to scrap knockout qualifying

– Formula 1 is set to revert to 2015-style qualifying for the second round of the season in Bahrain, with team chiefs unanimously agreeing to scrap the live knockout format in the wake of a troubled debut.Under the new-look qualifying system, drivers were eliminated from Q1, Q2 and Q3 at 90 second intervals after seven, six and five minutes respectively in each session – in a bid to shake up the grid.However, most drivers returned to the pits after early runs in each phase, leaving an empty track, including in Q3, when Lewis Hamilton was confirmed on pole position with over three minutes to go.Formula 1 team bosses met with the FIA's Race Director, Charlie Whiting, at the Albert...
