Mercedes will not run softest tyres in F1 test

Mercedes has elected against running the softest two tyre compounds for this week's final pre-season Formula 1 test, meaning the full potential of its new W07 will not be known until Melbourne. While a number of teams, including Ferrari and Red Bull, have already tried out Pirelli's new ultrasoft tyre, Mercedes does not wish to waste any laps running on either that or the supersoft. Instead, with the high demands of the Barcelona track only suitable for harder rubber, Mercedes is to stick to running just the soft and medium compounds.
