Spanish GP funding to be cut for 2016

The Spanish Grand Prix looks set to have a reduction in city funding from the 2016 season, according to local press. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – which has played host to the Spanish Grand Prix since 1991 – is reported to be losing 50% of it's funding from the Barcelona city council, reducing the council's contribution from four million to two million Euros. Speaking to local media, Barcelona's first deputy mayor, Gerardo Pisarello, told Diario Sport that Formula One is 'not a priority' for the council and that the cuts for the Spanish Grand Prix will be the start of a 'phasing out' process.
