Barcelona council set to reduce subsidy
– Barcelona's City Council is set to reduce the subsidy which the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya receives for hosting the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix.The venue has held Formula 1 races on an annual basis since it opened in 1991 and this year renewed its contract for a further three seasons, meaning it will remain on the calendar until at least 2019.The circuit's subsidy will be reduced from 4 million to 2 million as the council prioritises other areas of society, according to local media.Gerardo Pisarello, first Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, confirmed that the changes will be introduced gradually in order for the circuit to have a "viable plan" and for it to eventually become...
