Pirelli announces tyre choices for 2016 Australian GP

Pirelli has announced the tyre compound choices for the first race of the 2016 Formula 1 season, the Australian Grand Prix. The Italian manufacturer has chosen the medium, soft and supersoft compounds for the season-opening race. Under the new tyre rules for 2016, the soft and the medium tyres must be used by the drivers at some point during the race. Pirelli has assigned the supersoft tyres for Q3 in qualifying. Each driver will have to save one of the softest tyre compounds for Q3. The set will then be given back to Pirelli by those drivers who have qualified in the top 10.
