Webber takes WEC crown with Porsche
Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard have secured the Drivers' Championship honours in the World Endurance Championship after a fifth-place finish at the ‘6 Hours of Bahrain'. Driving the number 17 Porsche 919 Hybrid, the trio started the race on pole position but an engine actuator problem lost them several laps, also causing race-long reliability issues. A finish of fourth place or more would've been enough to guarantee the drivers' crown, but their nearest championship rivals – Audi's Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer – failed to take the victory required to beat them.
