New Engine Regulations – How does this affect the 2016 Grid?

The FIA announced today new F1 Sporting Regulations which could cause some bother for teams like Toro Rosso and any new teams trying to get into the sport. The regulations state that all engines must be the same specification as the unit homologated on February 28th 2016. What this means basically, is that all engines on the grid, be they works units or customer units must fit the 2016 specifications, so no selling engines that equal those of last year. This will increase the competitiveness of the grid and ensures greater fairness for the midfield and backmarker teams.
