Sainz Jr released from hospital, hoping to race

Carlos Sainz Jr has been released from hospital after his crash during third practice for the Russian Grand Prix. The Spaniard lost control and hit the outside wall mid-way through the session at Turn 13, sliding into the barrier. After a trip to the medical centre he was airlifted to hospital for precautionary checks. Toro Rosso confirmed on Saturday evening that Sainz Jr left hospital and is okay. The rookie is hopeful of being allowed to race on Sunday at the Sochi Autodrom but he will have to first go through the FIA medical checks. 'I am fine,' he said.
