Haas "surprised" to have landed Grosjean's signature

Gene Haas has admitted he did not expect to sign a driver of Romain Grosjean's experience for his Formula 1 team's debut season. Grosjean, who had spent the entirety of his previous F1 career with the Enstone-based Lotus squad, has been officially unveiled as a Haas F1 driver for 2016 in a Tuesday press conference at Cannapolis. When speaking of his team's new signing, Haas said: "Our goal is to race competitive teams amd [to do] whatever it takes to get the car on the grid with the right people.
