Gearbox concerns led to Grosjean retirement

Romain Grosjean has confirmed that his retirement from the Singapore Grand Prix with just two laps remaining was due to concerns with his gearbox. The Frenchman started in 10th place but lost several places on the opening lap. He was the first driver to pit on lap nine and spent the majority of the race battling in and around the points. However, in the closing stages he started to drop back due to increased tyre wear and then retired with two laps remaining due to concerns with his gearbox. He was classified in 13th. “We had an aggressive strategy planned for today, which looked good since we were as high as P8 at one point but the first Virtual Safety Car cost us dearly,” he said....
