Guy Ligier dies, aged 85

Former French F1 driver Guy Ligier has died at the age of 85. Guy Camille Ligier played rugby for the French national team in the 1940s before turning his attention to motor racing. Initially racing as a driver, he started twelve Grands Prix in the mid-60s. Driving a private Cooper & Brabham, he scored a solitary point before deciding against driving after close friend Jo Schlesser was killed in a crash. Buying up the Matra team, his team Ligier began racing in 1976, employing Jacques Laffite as a driver.
