Alonso set for 20-place grid penalty

Fernando Alonso looks set to start the Austrian Grand Prix from the back of the grid, after McLaren changed three elements of his power unit. The Spaniard has taken on a new ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), turbo and MGU-H for round eight at the Red Bull Ring. He spoke of a potential penalty on Thursday but McLaren confirmed the changes to fifth power unit elements on Friday morning. Drivers are handed a 10-second penalty for the first fifth power unit component used in a season. Any further changes to fifth elements result in a five-place grid drop. Because Alonso's MP4-30 has been fitted with three new components, he will be given a 20-place grid penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix....
