Stewards wrong to punish Verstappen – Hakkinen

Former Formula 1 champion Mika Hakkinen believes the stewards were wrong to penalise Max Verstappen for his race ending clash with Romain Grosjean in the Monaco Grand Prix.   Verstappen collided with Grosjean at Ste Devote in the closing stages of Sunday’s race, hitting the rear of the Frenchman’s Lotus before burying his Toro Rosso nose-deep in the barriers. The FIA stewards found the Dutch rookie at fault for the incident and handed him a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix, as well as two penalty points on his licence. “Grosjean did not drive on the same line or at the same speed as previous laps,” Hakkinen, a two-time world champion, told Finnish newspaper...
