F1 opens up tyre tender process

The FIA has formally opened up the tyre tender contract for the Formula 1 World Championship from 2017, Motorsport.com has learned. With Pirelli's current contract in F1 running out at the end of this year, moves are now underway to find out who will supply rubber to the teams for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 F1 world championship. In documents released by the governing body, it has invited tyre companies that are interested in applying for the deal. They must lodge their applications by June 17, with the evaluation process set to begin the day after.
