Barcelona to remain on F1 calendar until 2019

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will continue to host the Spanish Grand Prix after signing a new contract until the end of the 2019 Formula 1 season. The new deal is an extension on the current deal that was set to expire after the 2016 event, but the new contract sees the circuit remain on the schedule for a further three seasons. The circuit first held a Grand Prix back in 1991 and saw Nigel Mansell take victory, and is hosting its twenty-fifth race this weekend. “We are extremely proud to announce this renewal in such a special year, marking the 25th anniversary of Formula 1 Grands Prix being hosted uninterruptedly at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya,” said spokesperson Vicenc...
