Rosberg and Mercedes dominate in first practice for Australian GP

Nico Rosberg and Mercedes dominate in the opening practice session in Melbourne for 2015 Formula 1 season opener Australian Grand Prix. Rosberg and his team-mate Hamilton were split by just 0.029s at the flag – while Williams’ Valtteri Bottas in third was 1.1s down the road. Toro Rosso rookies made a brilliant debut, the duo Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen set fourth and sixth fastest respectively, the youngster separated by just 0.053s. Ferrari new recruit Sebastian Vettel split Toro Rosso duo in a final session attack, the second Williams speedy Felipe Massa set seventh fastest ahead Vettel’s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
