McLaren expects Alonso to race in Australia

+ Ron Dennis says he expects Fernando Alonso to race at the Australian Grand Prix, but admits he cannot guarantee the Spaniard’s fitness. Alonso crashed at Turn 3 on the final day of the second test at the Circuit de Catalunya and had to be airlifted to hospital. He spent three nights under medical observation before he was discharged on Wednesday, and has been forced to sit out the final test in Barcelona due under the recommendation of doctors. “I can’t foresee any reason why not but I’m not the doctor,” Dennis said, when asked if Alonso is likely to race at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. “There will be some tests and processes laid down within the...
