Maldonado: It’s always nice to top the timesheets
+ Pastor Maldonado was upbeat after topping the opening day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya. Despite causing two red flags with on track stoppages in the morning, Maldonado ended the day fastest with a lap of 1:25.101 in the new Lotus E23, a tenth clear of Jerez pacesetter Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari. “It is always good to see your name at the top of the timing monitors and my fastest lap was just in the course of our normal programme for the day,” he said. “It feels good to drive the E23 in Barcelona.
