Honda forced to re-design component

McLaren may not be able to run properly until Saturday following the problem that forced Jenson Button to finish the first day of Formula One testing in Barcelona early. The British driver had completed 21 laps before he suffered a problem with an energy recovery system (MGU-K) that will require a full replacement of the power unit. Honda will also need to re-design a component of the power unit in order to avoid the same issue, but the part will not be ready until Saturday and Honda admitted it may suffer the same problems on Friday. Fernando Alonso is scheduled to run tomorrow, taking over from Button. Read also: Nasr tops morning session as Hamilton pulls out
