In-season helmet design changes set to be banned

Formula 1 drivers will be banned from changing their helmet designs during the course of a season, according to reports. The new rule looks set to be introduced this year, in a bid to help fans identify with drivers and to improve the sport's marketing and promotional appeal. The decision was made at Tuesday's F1 Commission meeting in Geneva and is set to be ratified by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council. Drivers used to stick with the same designs throughout their F1 careers, creating iconic colour schemes like Ayrton Senna's yellow, green and blue helmet.
