Jean-Eric Vergne joins Ferrari as test driver

Scuderia Ferrari has confirmed that French racer Jean-Eric Vergne has joined the team in the role of test driver ahead of the 2015 season. Vergne made his F1 debut in 2012, spending three seasons with Toro Rosso before being dropped at the end of 2014 to allow Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr. to step up to a full-time seat next year. In Abu Dhabi, the Frenchman was rumoured to be in talks with Williams over a reserve role, but has now been confirmed as a Ferrari test driver for 2015, working alongside Esteban Gutierrez whose arrival at Maranello was announced earlier this week.
