Double points, standing restarts to be scrapped for 2015

F1 teams have agreed to drop the controversial double points rule and standing restarts for the 2015 season. According to Autosport, the decision to abandon the two rules was agreed to by teams during a meeting of the Strategy Group and F1 Commission in Geneva this week. The double points rule was introduced for the 2014 season, in a bid to try and keep the title fight alive to the final race of the year. It proved to be unpopular and ultimately played no part in deciding this season's champion. Bringing in standing restarts after safety car periods was voted in by the F1 Commission earlier this year.
