Button set for five-place gearbox penalty
Getty Images Enlarge Jenson Button will take a five-place penalty for the United States Grand Prix due to a gearbox change. Rules state a gearbox has to last for six consecutive events but Button managed just two with his, after McLaren fitted a new unit to his car after his retirement at the Singapore Grand Prix in September. With a penalty set to be applied to wherever he qualifies, Button thinks hot conditions could help him recover lost ground on Sunday. "I've got a gearbox change - which is a bit of a pain in the arse,", Button said. "Five-place penalty. Hopefully it's going to be hot, though, and mix it [the race] up a little bit.
