Mattiacci backs lifting engine freeze

Marco Mattiacci has again spoken out in favour of lifting restrictions on engine development ahead of Friday's vote. According to Autosport, the teams will meet on Friday at the Sochi Autodrom at which time they will vote on whether or not to lift the engine freeze rule. One team that is in favour is Ferrari, whose new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engine has fallen short of its Mercedes counterpart. Ferrari, however, claim that is not the reason they want the freeze lifted.
