Hamilton tops final practice after Rosberg has gearbox issues
+ Lewis Hamilton set the pace during final practice ahead of qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, after his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg was forced to sit out the session with a gearbox problem.
Hamilton, fastest on Friday morning, topped the early running on the hard tyres, before going even faster in the final minutes of the session with a best lap of 1:25.519 on the option rubber, four tenths up on Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in second.
Nico Rosberg failed to complete a flying lap in the sister Mercedes, and now faces questions over whether his car will be ready to compete in qualifying this afternoon, or if he will face a penalty for a gearbox change.
