Alonso 'one day' wants to race in Le Mans
Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso says that he 'one day' wants to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Alonso was given the honour of starting the 82nd running of the event earlier today, dropping the flag at 3pm local time at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
After Ferrari rubbished rumours that it may switch its focus away from F1 and to endurance racing, the Spaniard says he is keen to compete in the 24-hour race in the future.
“Well it is the first time here for me, so it’s a completely new experience, and try to enjoy this weekend that I’m not in the car, and let these guys compete,” he said to Eurosport on the 24 Hours of Le Mans grid prior to the start.
