Maldonado handed penalty point

Pastor Maldonado has been handed a penalty point by the stewards after the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix. The Venezuelan driver was given the point on his superlicense for causing a collision with Marcus Ericsson on the opening lap. He also had to serve a five second stop/go penalty during the race for the turn 10 tangle with the Caterham driver. Ericsson said on the clash: 'Maldonado hit me pretty hard as he tried to pass going into turn 13. His move risked putting both of us out of the race, but luckily the car was okay and I was able to continue.' The decision means Maldonado has now collected four points this season, more than any other driver bar Jules Bianchi who has the same number....
