Caterham considered Frijns for race seat

– Caterham has revealed that it considered handing Robin Frijns a race seat for the 2014 F1 season. The 22-year-old Dutchman, who won the 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 title, will act as one of the Leafield-based team's test and reserve drivers this season, and has already impressed during selected simulator outings. And although the outfit ultimately opted for Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson as its race drivers, team owner Tony Fernandes says he was close to placing his faith in Frijns.
