Ecclestone: Double points rule may be axed

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that the controversial plan to award double points for the final round of the 2014 Formula One season could be cancelled at the next meeting of the F1 strategy group in January. The FIA confirmed that the rule would be introduced for 2014 following the final meeting of the World Motor Sport Council earlier this month, and it met a great backlash from fans who deemed it to be ‘artificial'. With the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix also deemed to be one of the least enthralling races on the calendar, it was an unpopular move.
