Sirotkin gets Sauber test driver slot

Russian teenager Sergey Sirotkin will act as the official test driver for the Sauber F1 team next season.The 17-year-old joined the team back in the summer after a group of Russian investors came on board and bailed the team out of financial strife. Initially it was thought he would get a race seat, however, without the necessary experience to qualify for a superlicence, he will instead now act as the main tester.“We have been working with Sergey since August, and he has been able to gain more and more insight into F1,” explained Sauber team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn. “Now he is taking the next step towards the top level of motorsport in his new role as a test driver.“Our...
