Double points rule 'absurd' - Vettel

Sutton Images Enlarge Sebastian Vettel has labelled Formula One's new double points rule "absurd", according to a report in Sport Bild. On Monday the FIA revealed that from now on the final race of the season would be worth twice as many points as the rest of the races "in order to maximise focus on the championship until the end of the campaign". Under the new rules, next year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will award 50 points instead of 25 to the winner, 36 instead of 18 for second place, 30 instead of 15 for third and so on throughout the top ten.
