Raikkonen excluded from qualifying, to start race from last
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen qualified in fifth spot for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Saturday but was demoted to the back of the grid after his car failed a post-qualifying floor deflection test. Lotus successfully argued that floor damage caused by track kerbing led to a similar failure by Lotus driver Romain Grosjean at the Hungarian GP, but this time their explanation was not accepted. “The stewards heard the explanation of the team that the relevant part broke upon contact with a kerb,” read a statement from the FIA. “However, the stewards did not accept that the incident referred to constituted an accident, or excused failing the relevant test.” Former Formula 1...
