Räikkönen to use short wheelbase car

Kimi Räikkönen will use Lotus' shorter wheelbase car for the remainder of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, after returning to the design during Friday practice. The Enstone-based outfit has been using a longer wheelbase variation at recent events, coinciding with an upturn in form. But while team-mate Romain Grosjean is set to continue along this route, Räikkönen has made the decision to revert back. "Kimi had a good day and looks competitive on both tyres. He wanted to try the short wheelbase car again as he felt its characteristics would suit this circuit," Alan Permane, Lotus' Trackside Operations Director, said after the opening two sessions.
