In the spotlight: Toro Rosso's new signing Daniil Kvyat
Although a talented and highly-rated member of Red Bull’s junior race team, there was still an element of surprise when Daniil Kvyat was chosen to replace Daniel Ricciardo as Jean-Eric Vergne’s Toro Rosso team mate for 2014.However, the 19-year-old Russian is not without pedigree.Born in the southern city of Ufa on April 26, 1994, Kvyat took his first steps towards Formula One racing when he sat in his first go-kart at the age of eight. It was only a matter of time before he began racing karts competitively, and just 12 months after he did, he and his family relocated to Rome (where he still lives) so that young Daniil could compete in the ultra-competitive Italian kart...
