Fire tender vehicle provides bizarre Korean Grand Prix moment 6 October, 2013 The fire vehicle joins the track during the Korean GP The appearance of a 4×4 fire vehicle on the track during the running of the Korean Grand Prix provided a bizarre moment of drama as it led the slowed-down field but officials played down any safety concerns. The sport's governing body said race director Charlie Whiting ordered the vehicle to enter the track once the safety car message was broadcast because he realised the pace car could not be deployed before Red Bull's race leader Sebastian Vettel arrived on the scene.
