FIA confirms Pirelli will continue in 2014

Pirelli has been confirmed as the sole tyre supplier for the 2014 Formula 1 season, but its future after that remains unknown. During a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council on Friday, it was agreed that a new tender process would introduced, but this process comes too late for next season, therefore Pirelli "may continue" according to a statement. "In this new [tender] process, the FIA will be confirmed as the body in charge of conducting the tender process," it read. "The Commercial Rights Holder will be entitled to run the commercial negotiations with potential suppliers, with a view to the selected single supplier being officially appointed by the WMSC....
