Button laments incorrect gear ratios

Jenson Button was left to rue his gear ratio choice after the Italian Grand Prix, the McLaren driver claiming they were too short to counterbalance the fuel effect. Despite a scruffy opening lap, Button had featured comfortably inside the top ten for the majority of Sunday afternoon's race at Monza, embarking upon a battle with Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo for seventh position after the pit-stop phase. But a lack of straight line speed as his car lost weight left him exposed to his rivals, with Kimi Räikkönen less than half a second away from stealing the final point.
