McLaren eager to extend Button's contract

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh has all but confirmed that Jenson Button will be retained beyond the 2013 season, describing him as "a great asset" to the outfit. Speaking ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Button expressed his willingness to stay with the outfit for what would be a fifth term, but revealed that team chiefs have not yet taken up the option they have on him.
