Alonso encouraged with fifth on the grid
Fernando Alonso was encouraged to be fifth on the grid for the Hungarian Grand Prix, following on the back of a number of recent underwhelming results for his Ferrari team, who have slipped to third in the Constructors Championship behind Mercedes. The Spaniard, who currently trails Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in the championship by 37 points, and is famous for his rapid progress through the field in the early laps of a Grand Prix is hopeful that the positive steps taken by the Scuderia this weekend, coupled with starting on the clean side of the grid, will give him a strong chance to pursue his nearest championship rival.
