Ferrari: Engine life key in 2014

Ferrari engine chief Luca Marmorini reckons managing engine life will become a priority for all teams in Formula One next year. The new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 power units will be introduced in 2014, and each driver will be limited to just five for the season. This is in contrast to this year's tried and tested 2.4-litre V8 powerplants, which is limited to eight a year by each driver. Marmorini foresees a struggle by all three engine manufacturers to avoid penalties next season as they look to work through the teething problems of the new power units.
