Pirelli set to remain as tyre supplier

Despite recent speculation, Pirelli is set to remain as Formula 1's tyre supplier for the arrival of the new regulations next season. Motorsport Director Paul Hembery said the Italian manufacturer has signed contracts with most teams, adding that the remainder of the 12-strong grid should follow suit within the next two weeks. Having endured the wrath of various outfits for increased degradation levels over the course of the first seven races, and its staging of Mercedes' private post-Spanish Grand Prix tyre test, Pirelli's commitment to the sport beyond its initial three-year contract - which expires at the end of the 2013 season - had come under scrutiny.
