Lehto released from boat crash charges

Ex-F1 driver JJ Lehto has been cleared of charges relating to a boating accident in 2010 for which he was originally sentenced to two years and four months in jail. Lehto appealed the sentence and has been released from charges of being in control of the boat while drunk and over the speed limit. The court of appeal ruled that it was not clear whether Lehto had been driving the boat at the time of the crash. The 46-year-old drove for Onyx, Dallara, Sauber and Benetton during a six-year Formula One career in which he scored a solitary podium finish. After being more successful in sports cars and winning Le Mans twice, he more recently he worked as an F1 commentator for MTV3.
