Commons sense prevail: No grid drop for Bottas

For Cadillac’s Valtteri Bottas, the start of the 2026 season in Melbourne brings relief: a lingering grid penalty from the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has been thrown out the window by the FIA. Bottas, who had been handed a five-place drop for contact with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, now his Cadillac teammate, had faced uncertainty about whether he would need to serve it on his F1 return this weekend.
